Hike & Paint Free Community Event at Tryon Creek May 9
Join us on Saturday, May 9, 2026 for a joyful, creative day in nature for the free Hike & Paint Event at Tryon Creek State Natural Area, presented by Friends of Tryon Creek in collaboration with Janique Crenshaw Illustration.
Spend your morning immersed in the beauty of Tryon Creek—learning, creating, and connecting in community.
🌲 Educational Nature Hike (1 Hour)
We’ll begin with a guided hike through the lush trails of Tryon Creek, where you’ll discover local flora and learn fun, fascinating facts about the plants that call this area home. Bring your curiosity (and your camera!)—you’ll have the chance to take photos and gather inspiration for your artwork.
All ages are welcome. Parents/guardians must accompany children on the hike.
🎨 Botanical Art Session (2 Hours)
Led by local artist Janique Crenshaw, this hands-on art experience invites you to create your own botanical masterpiece inspired by the plants you encountered on the trail. Explore painting with natural pigments alongside traditional paints in a relaxed, supportive environment.
✨ No experience needed.
✨ All materials provided.
🍵 Natural Tea Making Station
Unwind and refresh at our natural tea blending station. Create your own custom tea blend using dried herbs and tea leaves while enjoying light refreshments in community. Registration is highly encouraged for coordinators to prepare refreshments for attendees.
